Comma is the leading copywriting agency based in Kuwait led by Rawan AlKandari and Mariam AlMaghrebi, earning the WinTrade Global Award for “Women in Business” in 2021. One of Comma’s core values is believing in the power and influence of words to both the reader and the listener’s ears. Rawan AlKandari has made her transition from the academic world into the business world in 2017 where she began her journey freelancing for established brands in the UK. Upon returning to Kuwait in 2019, Comma grew and expanded even more, earning its position in the marketing field. Mariam AlMaghrebi soon became the co-founder of Comma in 2019, with a background in creative writing and literature, making her transition into the business world as well. Together, Rawan AlKandari and Mariam AlMaghrebi have a joint vision to elevate the marketing field in Kuwait through the appropriate usage of language in both Arabic and English. The word comma derives from the punctuation itself, but it also shares a meaning with something more profound, the letter waw in Arabic. In the Sufi belief, the letter waw “و” stands for connection and continuity, the curvature of the letter is almost identical to the comma, hence, the birth of the logo. Comma believes in connecting ideas to their words like a puzzle, breathing life into the simplest words and the most complex of concepts, making it meaningful to readers and entertaining to viewers.
